[edit] About

Simple 4-choice reaction task--respond using keyboard to which quadrant a plus sign appears in. Common task, as described by Wilkinson & Houghton (1975).

Located in battery/fourchoice/fourchoice.pbl

[edit] Options

At the beginning of the script, the test gives the experimenter the option of using either FJVN keys or keypad 4512 keys to make responses. This can be hardcoded by replacing the code:

 if(askKeyBoard)
  {
    gRtype <-  GetResponseKeys()

with:

  gRtype <- 1

and setting

askKeyBoard <- 0
  • whether to use sound (gUseSound)
  • total trials (50)
  • isi (200 ms)
  • time limit per trial (2500 ms)
  • Warning tone can be changed by replacing tone.wav with another .wav file.
In addition, after the script is started, one selects whether to use
the keypad or specific keys on the keyboard. This can be hardcoded

[edit] Data Output

Results: Data is saved to file fourchoice-<gsubnum>.txt. Columns are:

subnum set by launcher resptype which keys are used isi time between trials trial trial number sound whether sound beeps kicked in after 2500 ms resp key response quad quadrant of target leftright target was left/right side updown target was up/down respquad response quadrant corr whether it was correct lapse if sound is used, whether time was > 2500 ms rt response time

In addition, a summary of the performance is displayed at the end of the task and saved in fourchoice-<gsubnum>-report.txt
